It's been a rollercoster year for the Rabbits, early injuries and a traditionally tough pre district schedule brings the RABSS in with a deceptive 5-6 record to face the juggernaut 10-1 Gilmer Buckeyes, who defeated Canton 51-36 in by-district play.
Atlanta's recent history with Gilmer leaves a bit to be desired if you're a Rabbit fan. But it you follow the percentages Atlanta has a good chance of doing what many consider the impossible. The offense display by the Rabbits against Wills Point puts the Buckeyes on notice that they have some of the best skilled position player in the State of Texas. Corion Webter and Everett Dickerson will be division one college football players next year with a list of post season honors to come.
The real strength of the Rabbits is role players like Alan Fonteneaux who's blocking allows Atlanta to spring the 2 top running back prospect for big yardage and fuels a potent running attack.
Look for Atlanta to UPSET Gilmer in what should be one of the more entertaining playoff games in the State this weekend.
Alan Fonteneaux
